Rohwer Japanese American Relocation Center Cemetery

Site of Japanese American internment camp during World War II (1942-1945). Monuments honor former Rohwer internees who served in the U. S. armed forces in Europe, as well as the 442nd Japanese American Unit of the 100th Battalion which distinguished itself in World War II combat. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places July 30, 1974. Site became a National Historic Landmark on July 6, 1992. The gravel road along the edge of the cemetery includes wayside panels telling the story of the internament at Rohwer, with audio narration by actor George Takei, interned at the camp as a boy
