Seven Devils Swamp Wildlife Management Area

Area is a true wetland ecosystem, composed almost totally of cypress, tupelo, buttonbush, locust and willon. One main stream, Cut-Off Creek, flows through the center. Area is widely known for its good duck hunting. Furbearer trapping is good especially for raccoon and mink. Squirrel, deer and rabbits can be hunted before the area is flooded (usually in late October). Fishing in the spring is good for bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish, but water levels are too low by summer. The swamp has a breeding population of anghinias, great blue herons, little green herons and American herons. The are occasional sitings of eagles in fall and winter, and alligators are present as well. There is one campsite in the area. There are numerous tales of the swamp, including legends of strangers who wandered in and never returned. For information and regulations, call 1-877-734-4581
