Scatterville Cemetery

The Scatterville Cemetery is the best surviving link to an important early Clay County settlement that withered when the St. Louis and Texas Railroad arrived about two miles south of Scatterville in 1881. The railroad company established a new town named Rector, and Scatterville residents migrated to Rector over time. Scatterville received its name because its stores and cabins were scattered haphazardly over the area. The cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
