Missouri-Pacific Depot

The Missouri-Pacific Depot at McGehee is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its beautiful 1910 Mediterranean/Craftsman architectural style.  The North side of the restored structure includes a community space and exhibits related to McGehee's railroad history.  The South side houses the WWII Japanese American Internment Museum.  More than 16,000 Japanese American detainees passed through Desha County by railroad for incarceration at Rohwer and Jerome, both near McGehee.
