Cotton Highway Markers

The Osceola community has erected some 36 historic markers celebrating its cotton and music heritage. Signs are located in Osceola as well as important sites in the county and nearby communities. Among the most notable are the signs in the downtown area recognizing famous musicians with ties to Osceola, including Billy Lee Riley, Jimmy "Popeye" Thomas, Albert King, Reggie Young, and Willie Bloom. In addition, signs at Sans Souci Landing commemorate the Battle of Plum Run Bend, as well as marking the Plum Point Landing & Overlook referenced by Mark Twain in "Life on the Mississippi."
