Desha County Attractions

Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Arkansas rivers, Desha County has some of the richest soil in the region, making it a leading agricultural producer. Quaint buildings at Arkansas City are reminders of the once-thriving steamboat town, which was a regular port of call into the 1930s. The county also has its own “Lost Atlantis,” the former county seat of Napoleon, which is now underwater --- washed into the Mississippi River when the Arkansas River cut through the town.
