In the News

Once again, Arkansas Delta Byways has been recognized as the top regional tourism association in Arkansas.  There are lots of reasons for that, but among them is the abundance of dedicated people who work hard to make your trip to Eastern Arkansas a memorable experience.  Come and see for yourself!  Below are some of our recent accolades.

TOURISM REGION OF THE YEAR

Arkansas Delta Byways received the Regional Tourism Association of the Year award at the 2023 Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Known as the Henry Award, it is named for Henri de Tonti, who helped establish the first permanent European settlement in the lower Mississippi River Valley in 1686. Called Poste aux Arkansas, or Arkansas Post, it resulted in de Tonti being referred to as the “father of Arkansas.”

TOURISM HALL OF FAME

Our own Paula Miles, executive secretary/treasurer of Arkansas Delta Byways, has been inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame. Along with her work for our tourism organization, she recently retired from Arkansas State University, where she helped developed nationally recognized heritage tourism sites in our region, including the Dyess Colony: Johnny Cash Boyhood Home, the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum, the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum, Lakeport Plantation, and the Rohwer Japanese-American Relocation Center.

ATTRACTION OF THE YEAR

We’re proud of Delta Dirt Distillery in Helena-West Helena for winning the 2023 Arkansas Tourism Henry Award for Attraction of the Year. Congratulations to Co-Owners Harvey and Donna Williams

FINALIST, NATURAL STATE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

The Beans, Greens & Cornbread/Delta Roots Music Festival in Helena-West Helena was a finalist in the Natural State Tourism Development Award, presented for an innovative attraction or project that “stands out from the crowd.”

ARKANSAS FOOD HALL OF FAME

Kream Kastle in Blytheville has been inducted into the 2023 class of Arkansas Food Hall of Fame winners. Congratulations to Jeff and Suzanne Johns Wallace.
