Corning

Population: 3679

Founded as Heeth City along the new Cairo and Fulton Railroad line in 1872 by the Heeth brothers,
most people called it Carpenter's Station in reference to the depot agent. A year after its founding, the southern half of the town incorporated as Corning, in honor of the engineer who built the line. The northern part joined the incorporated city in 1878.
