Parkin

Cross County
Population: 1602

Named after William Parkin, this town was founded in 1886-87. At that time the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railroad were laying tracks between Memphis and Bald Knob. As a construction engineer, William Parkin was in charge of laying approximately 20 miles of track. The chief engineer asked Parkin to name a stretch of sidetrack, and Parkin proposed his own name.
